Forgive your enemies it messes up their minds!

Saturday January 29 2011

I've been absent for quite a long time. Other "things" have occupied me and consumed my time. No excuses just spent my days helping others which has value.

January has been a snow filled month. No big snows, just several (way too many) small ones. I do despise the white stuff. It is dirty and messy. Never understood folks who say "Oh is it so beautiful." How can slush, salt, and cinders be beautiful? My mind can not grasp that particular beauty.

Droid Forums has some changes. One of the admins took a much needed break in order to get his life on-track. More of us need to do the same!

The events in Egypt are scary. People are tired of being hostage to government. Many in America believe it is only a matter of time until the American public reach that same point. If so, will you be prepared?

Lazy Sunday

Very quiet day today. Visited a special friends Church today in Milroy. Pastor Jim Bars is a great pastor who delivers a special message every Sunday. Today, he spoke about the 18th chapter of Matthew. He focused on how we are all children of God and it our duty to watch over others and to offer support whenever the opportunity arises.

It is humbling to know that God has forgiven all of our sins! Christ paid our debt in full! Praise the Lord.

We enjoyed a quiet dinner in State College. Interesting to see the change in the community when over 40,000 students return.

For the remainder of the evening it is NFL.

Hope everyone has a good evening.

Saturday (sadly not in the park [Chicago song])

Began today with weekly prayer meeting. Each Saturday our local Gideon camp meets for prayer and breakfast. Getting on your knees and praying out loud for pastors, individuals, and for the Gideon ministry is awesome! The power of prayer should not be underestimated.

Our attendance was small today but still powerful. The breakfast group was even smaller but the conversation was good.

My email contained a note from a friend with comments from Charles (Chuck) Colson former Nixon aid and Watergate conspirator. Colson writes about a Worldwide view and how our expectations had changed. He nailed the fact that, today, individuals want instant gratification big houses, cars, etc.. They do not want to save for a purchase, instead they use a credit card. Additioanlly, he writes that our "elected officials" have gone on a spending spree. Again, he nailed it!

So, the question is how does the average citizen turn this around. I ponder this daily.

The folks that have lead this lifestyle are the same folks that changed our morals and have abandoned God! We have been silent while a very small group bend and alter our values.

I have very little respect for the French but I do admire how the common folk said enough and revolted and heads rolled. Heck, even the Iranians had enough courage, even in the face of death, to demonstrate over their recent elections. Yet, in the nation, who supposedly has freedom of speech and right to bear arms, we sit silently.

Our only option is to look to God!

First Blog

This is my first attempt at blogging! I just retired and look forward to enjoying my remaining years with my wife, children (2 boys), and grandchildren(2 boys). We've been married for 40 years. I spent over 40 years in the Information Technology business. Additionally, I spent 4 years serving in the United States Navy. My personal opinion -- every male and female who turns 18 years-of-age should serve 2 years in one branch of the military.

God has blessed me is so many ways. I am a Christian who enjoys serving The Lord. I am a Gideon and an authorized lay evangelists. My wife and I attend St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. I was very sadden by the ELCA's recent vote to allow gay's to lead congregations. I do not judge these individuals only pray from them. Prayer is very powerful.

I'm a cancer survivor (11 years). Another of God's Blessings. He is GOOOOD!

Prior to retirement, I enjoyed running and weight lifting. The impact of my cancer surgery (13 hours and damaged kidneys) have eliminated those activities.

Our country is in sad shape. Our so called political leaders have sold out to their own wants and desires. Our freedoms are dwindling! Our government is moving down a very dangerous path.

Off my soap box. Time to help my wife with dinner.

I look forward to comments.
Best wishes from "The Old Guy" Mike
